National Freelance Business week (#FBW) embraces the local freelance ethos of each city it is hosted in and we’re excited that it’s coming to Washington, DC Metro in 2022! We are collaborating to bring local freelance business owners, leaders, creators, and supporters together to expand your network in the #DMV during our in-person events from April 18 through April 22, 2022.

FreelanceDMV is a community of freelancers and the organizer of Freelance Business Week DC #FBWDC. Our purpose is to amplify all the talented freelancers in the DC Metro area with ongoing education and networking opportunities.


Our Inaugural #FBWDC event kicks off on Monday, April 18 and goes through Thursday, April 21. Please join us as we celebrate this opportunity to build and grow the freelance community in our local area.

#FBWDC Kickoff!

Location: WeWork Midtown,1100 15th St NW, Washington, DC 20005

Join us in celebrating National Freelance Business Week. Our inaugural event in the DMV begins with the #FBWDC Kickoff! Following a welcome and remarks Dr. Unique Morris-Hughes, Director of the Department of Employment Services in Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Administration. In her role as State Labor Commissioner, Dr. Morris-Hughes is directly responsible for more than $150M in local, federal and specific-purpose funds administered by the District of Columbia and the federal government for workforce development programs and training, unemployment compensation, universal paid leave administration and labor standards enforcement along with more than $80M in active capital projects.

Following a welcome and remarks by Dr. Morris-Hughes, a panel of local experts will discuss the state of freelancing and independent work, the different pathways to getting there and what the future of work will look like.

#FBWDC Gov Con Toolkit

Location: WeWork Tysons, 1775 Tysons Blvd, Tysons, VA 22102

Our panel of experts will share insights into the federal bid process, 8-A certifications, disadvantage business certifications, and the procurement process with government integrators. They will also share their own experience breaking into the gov con space.

#FBWDC "Freelancing in DC" Fireside Chat + Happy Hour

Location: One Metro Center, 700 12th Street Northwest, Washington, DC, 20005

Join for our "Freelancing in DC" fireside chat featuring local freelancers. They'll share what it's like to be a freelancer in the DMV, including lessons learned, business best practices and ideas for growing your own business. 

A happy hour with awesome food and drink will be provided afterwards by Green Plate Catering.
